changing the corners of our home: sea blue

A can of turquoise paint, an old bench, a score in some lovely fabric and my tool belt helper, Cameryn....   and we are off! I picked up this bench at an antique store in Cour D’ Alene, Idaho probably about 10 years ago and wbk! (well before kids). It was in deep need of some TLC at the time of purchase. It was covered in a hideous red velour fabric, that even smelled antique. I have put it through one transformation already. A white can of spray paint and some checkered blue and white fabric fit a baby nursery need. It worked great as a foot rest for my first son’s glider in his nursery.
My little helper, Cameryn, lives for a tool belt challenge, even though this wasn’t much of one. It was easy breezy. I sprayed painted the bench (my assistant was dying to help in that arena of our project). I covered it with some white fabric and then this medley of fabric. Whala! We have a bench that sits at the end of our bed in the master suite. This color blue seems fitting for a house by the sea.

Cameryn's Fourth Birthday and Dino Bash

On a Dino Hunt we went. We looked and we looked. Not one dino was spotted, yet little imaginations were in full effect that day.
       Love is in the Details.
The kids were excited to enjoy a special treat.... SODA! and old school soda at that.

You Ain't Seen Nothin' until you've seen Halloween in our 'hood.

This was supposed to be a low key Halloween in the Marsh Wren cul-de-sac this year. We collaborated with the neighbors for our usual Halloween potluck, and instead of the Hinajosa's hosting their incredible haunted house this year, we will all pitch in to make our homes spooky. Our next door neighbors had Peanuts on the big screen. We hosted a craft station for the kids. When I pulled in to my driveway, to find an enormous handmade Pirate ship sitting in the midst of the cul-de-sac on Halloween morning, (although this was a low level production for Ed's usual), I knew then... low key, it would not be.  Cameryn and I so enjoyed his birthday trick-or -treating, while Cohl ran along with his friends and our neighbors ahead. After making that entrance into the cul-de-sac on Halloween Eve, all of the homes in their Halloween best, it was truly a sight to be seen. Hundreds and hundreds of trick-or- treaters enjoyed it too.

A little Imagination, less than $50 in Halloween Garb and some recycled materials from around the house, the Capano House becomes haunted too. Boo!
